Two major schemes are being planned for the former site of Vosper Thornycroft shipyard, owned by SEEDA. They have recently been agreed by Southampton City Council's planning panel. The first by Crest Nicholson Regeneration was development known as Centenary Quay. The plans include more than 1,600 homes, offices, shops, library, health centre and three waterfront apartment towers. The centre point of the development is a public plaza with shops, restaurants and second application is by an American boat builder Palmer Johnson to create a marine employment quarter. The site is being cleared for redevelopment.
