Currently, at least 240 pet dogs have been vaccinated against rabies after a ten-year-old boy was found to have died from the bite of a neighbor's dog who was suspected of having rabies on Sunday, June 13. According to a report from the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2019, cases of animal bites transmitted by rabies were reported to be 404,306 cases and 544 deaths, statistically 98% of rabies is transmitted through dog bites. Meanwhile, Indonesia is targeted to be free of rabies by 2030.
