This means that acertain amount of the ground space now required in down-town Chicago could possibly be released without directly af-fecting the Chicago originating or delivery freight terminalfacilities necessary. This release of interchange freight wouldin turn do much to relieve the encroachment on the businessdistrict and traffic congestion of the streets that is being com-plained of. Universal Freight Houses: Along the same lines may bementioned the desirability of universal receiving stations. Atnumerous points throughout the city may be found groups ofcompetitive freight houses generally quite unwarranted andmore or less of a nuisance to the shipper
