Sofia, Bulgaria. 28th Feb, 2017. On the 1st of March Bulgarian people celebrate a traditional holiday called Baba Marta. People give to one another martenitsa. Martenitsa is made of white and red yarn and usually in the form of two tassels or dolls, a male and a female. Tradition dictates that Martenitsi are always given as gifts, not bought for oneself.
