Drawing of Donati's Comet of 1858, by the British clergyman and astronomer Thomas William Webb (1807-1885). The drawing, which includes several stars, indicates the size of this comet. The stars include ones from the constellations of Bootis, Corona, Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Draconis, and Lyra. Donati's Comet, discovered by Italian astronomer Giovanni Battista Donati, was one of the brightest comets of the 19th century. Its closest approach to Earth was on 10th October 1858 (date at lower right).
