Slime. Person handling slime made by mixing the synthetic polymer poly(ethenol) with borax (sodium tetraborate). The two chemicals interact to form cross-links between the poly(ethenol) polymer chains forming a viscoelastic gel (the slime). Using more borax gives a greater number of cross-links, giving the slime a higher viscosity and making it more difficult to pour.
