Hereceived his education at the HayesA^alley Grammar School and SacredHeart College. Upon completinghis schooling he served an appren-ticeship of five years in the printingand bookbinding trade, at the closeof which he became assistant secre-tary of the largest printing, book-binding and publishing house in the\Vest. County Clerk Mulcrevys politi-cal career began in 1896, in whichyear he was elected to the Assemblyfrom the Thirty-seventh District, his colleagues choosing him to bechairman of the San Francisco delegation. In 1897 he was appointedChief Clerk of the Department of Elections, and remained duringthree administrations.
