A power attach-ment for raising and lowering the cross-rail is also included,the drive being oblained by belling from the driving shaft tothe pulley on top of the machine; in this way the cr^ss-railmay be raised while the face-plate is at rest. Positive-drivegeared feeds are also used upon this tool, the drive tor whichis taken direct from the spindle by spiral gearing.
