Eostral nearly twice as broad as deep, scarcely visible from above; frontal once and two thirds as long as broad, longer than its distance from the end of the snout, shorter than the parietals; loreal very small; one prae- and two postoculars ; eight upper labials, third, fourth, and fifth entering the eye ; anterior chin-shields shorter than the posterior. Scales in 19 rows. Ventrals 137-140; anal divided; subcaudals 80-83. Above light brown or yellowish, densely punctulated with darker ; the median dorsal region of a deeper shade; distant dark br9wn dots sometimes forming two parallel series along the back ; a dark brown stripe along the fourth row of scales nearly to the end of the tail, continuous with a head-band which passes through the eye; beneath yellowish, dotted with brown, especially towards the ex- tremities of the ventrals.
