In 1862 hecame to California, and in 1870 joinedthe Fire Department as a member of Hose Company No. 2. After severaltransfers he became foreman of EngineCompany No. i, and several years agotook charge of chemical engine No. other members of the company areJames Landtbom, Lieutenant; WilliamHart, driver, and John Brandt, company has a good record as fire-fighters, and has taken part in all of thenotable fires of recent years.
