The first truly anatomical article we have on this family is one pub-lished (1828) t by Jacobsen of Copenhagen, on the anatomy of Cyclas(SpIuErium) cornea. This memoir being in Danish has necessarily beenaccessible to but few, and I have thought it would not be ill-judged tohave it placed before our naturalists, and consequently have translatedit into English.
