Soldiers from the German army forced British prisoners to dig trenches and barricades along the river bank in order to defend Sedan against the Allies. This photograph, taken by Sgt. Eikleberry, shows the trenches and barricades in Sedan, Ardennes, France. Visual evidence from the photograph suggests the challenging conditions in which the prisoners worked. The image was released by Censor on January 16, 1919.
