Stainless steel pipes valves and centrifugal blowers which draw the gas from the city landfill site at 50mbar, compress it to 38bar and chill it to 2 degrees C. to dry it. It is then fed to Ulstein Bergen AS's spark ignited lean burn gas engine has a total electrical output of over 1MW, and in addition 60% of the heat generated by the engine (1660kW) is used by a nearby agricultural college with the remainder being sold commercially.
