The company wasalso engaged at the same time in putting up asplendid hotel, three stories high, with by 123 feet in size, completely surrounded byverandahs and equipped in every respect as athoroughly modern hotel. The Great Northern railroad was completed toEverett in the fall of 1891 and trains began mak-ing more or less regular trips in November. Theexceedingly important part which the Great North-ern railroad was to bear in the development ofEverett and the entire sound country was beginningto become apparent in the fall of 1891. It becameknown at that time that J. J. Hill and the English-men, Lord Mount Stephens and Sir Donald , were heavy owners in the stock of the landcompany.
