Redundant Wakerley kilns built by POW's in 1915 for calcining iron ore, Barrowden, Northants

the brick kilns at Wakerley, Northamptonshire date from the 1st world war when German POW's worked on them. They were built to reduce iron ore by a process of calcination so that there was less bulk to transport to the steel works at Corby. They were apparently never used.
