An Italian tailed sallet circa 1450-70. With one-piece skull, medial ridge developing into a flattened low keel pierced for a crest, drawn-out to a short tail with angular inwardly-turned edge, face-opening rounded at the sides, the edge now finished without a turn, struck with two marks at the rear, one a coronet over a Gothic letter, the other a split cross (each rubbed), fitted with later brow-plate, and later rivets for the chin-strap and cm.
