CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (March 21, 2019) Wilfred Merkel, simulator requirements officer for Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA), provides guidance to 2nd Lt. Liam Wells, a student naval aviator assigned to the "Rangers" of Training Squadron 28. CNATRA Headquarters named Merkel 2018 Senior Civilian of the Year. He was instrumental in the T-6 and TH-57 simulator upgrade effort, acting as expert and liason between CNATRA, Naval Air Systems Command, and industry.
