The company's greenhouses in the south end are look- ing well, and Mr. Smith reports business good along all lines. J. L. S. PORTLAND, OBE. The Market. The bright weather has put a quietus on business. It seems as though funeral work slacks up the same as the counter trade. Carnations are overplentiful in all varieties, but the percentage of splits is being decreased as the season advances. Eoses are increasing in quantity but are far from being in surplus. Daffodils are in full bloom in the gardens, so prices are gradually declining. The demand for pans of hyacinths and tulips has been remark- ably brisk and good prices generally have prevailed, although the low prices of some florists make some people skeptical of their values. Various Notes. Clarke Bros, shipped a large consign- ment of Oregon grape to San Francisco this week, to be used by the Oregon delegation selecting the first site at the exposition grounds. Alder & Robinson have opened a store in Oregon City, reporting business sat- isfactory to date. E, R. C, SAN FBANCISCO. The Market. According to the weather man, this vicinity has had but nine inches of rain this season, as against twenty- seven inches one year ago.
