Bad Urach - Seeburg, the field maple, also known as the Maßholder, is a member of the maple genus in the soap tree family. The field maple grows as a shrub or as a tree up to 15 m in height. The popular name "Maßholder" is derived from its former use as an edible tree. The leaves were eaten like sauerkraut and also used as animal feed, the field maple was Tree of the Year in 2015
