Nonpareil Market, carved stone from a former market building, Cardiff Bay, Wales, UK. 1889.

Nonpareil is a word of French origin, meaning unequalled or unrivalled, but no record has been found of the name ‘Nonpareil Market’ being used either as an address or business name. This decorative piece or stone plaque was originally at the top of a 3-storey building in James Street, Cardiff Bay, and was reset here when the original building was demolished, as part of an entrance way to the new development.
