London, UK, 28 October 2014. Workmen begin the process of 'repatination' on the Guards Division Memorial at Horse Guards Parade. The bronzes are heated first, before a repatination fluid is applied. Once dried, they will be waxed and polished. Each bronze Guardsman is representative of a typical soldier from each of the five divisions: Grenadiers, Coldstreams, Scots, Welsh and Irish Guards. The memorial commemorates 14,000 Guardsmen who died in the Great War and will be a centrepiece of the forthcoming WW1 centenary event. Credit: Stephen Chung/Alamy Live News
