Hundreds of fresh graves at the cemetery outside Beslan, North Ossetia, Russia, where hundreds of people, among them many children, died as a result of an attack by terrorists demanding that Russian troops pull back from the republic of Chechnya. Over a thousand school children and their teachers were taken hostage in the school on the 1st of September, 2004. Hundreds of hostages, including 186 children, died when Russian forces stormed the school on the 3rd of September. Altogether 334 were killed during the three days of the hostage drama.
