The conditions iu Kansas give promise of an increasing powerto lessen the disasters of lunacy, pauperism, and crime. The education of the past decade has brought from the school-rooms of the State an armyof recruits loyal to the cause of good government. The study of sociology forms a distinct department in the work of the State University, and press and platform are responsive to every proven^ (40).
