In France he was attachedto the 7th Battalion East Yorkshire Regimentand proved himself a most excellent officer. Hewas awarded the in 1918—for verygallant work when in command of a companyduring a big raid by his Battalion on the enemytrenches at Beaumont-Hamel on the night of 8June 1918.
