Secondary liver cancer, light micrograph. The cancer cells are the large pale-stained cells forming a nodule amongst the darker healthy liver cells. This cancer spread from a primary site in a breast. The spread of cancer throughout the body is known as metastasis. Once a cancer has spread beyond its initial site the prognosis is poor.
