Operation "Crazy Horse", a search and destroy mission conducted by elements of the 1st Cav Div (Airmobile), began on 15 May 1966 approximately 20 miles northeast of An Khe and 290 miles northeast of Saigon, in the Vinh Thanh Valley area, against an estimated regiment of North Vietnamese regulars.
