Looking down into St Margaret's Well in Binsey churchyard, Oxford, England, UK, associated with Saxon female St Frideswide. Frideswide was pursued to Binsey by an amorous Saxon, she prayed to St Margaret of Antioch who blinded the suitor & created a spring of holy water which Frideswide used to cure the now repentant pursuer. The well & Frideswide's shrine in Christ Church Cathedral attracted many pilgrims & those seeking eye cures. On the opposite side of the river from St Margaret's is the site of the hamlet of Seacourt which boasted numerous ale houses etc. to cater for the Medieval pilgrims.
