Medieval labyrinth in Chartres Cathedral, 1205 AD


The floor of Chartres Cathedral still bears its 13th-century labyrinth, used for walking contemplation by medieval monks and modern pilgrims. The path through the labyrinth is 964 feet long. The circumference of the labyrinth is 131 feet which is almost exactly the same size as the West Rose window.
