The Descendants of Suvorov and Chapaev fight bravely

Red Infantry moves forward in foreground while images of their forbear soldiers appear red in the sky leading them on. “The descendants of Suvorov and Chapaev fight bravely” This image is appealing to Russians to enlist in the army, as well as informing Russia soldiers that it is an honor to be a part of the war because descendants, like Suvorov and Chapaev, were soldiers like them at one point. Suvorov was a noble soldier and highly regarded because he had a large amount of victories that the only explanation that people had as to why he succeeded so much was that he was "chosen by God" (Palat, 78). His leadership qualities were as of a common solider. He dressed like a common soldier, acted like one, and was welcomed by everyone as an ordinary soldier. Chapaev was part of the Red Army and considered as a Russian Civil War hero because of his brave tactics. The technique of including these brave men appeals to the population to enlist and become like one of these heroes. The propaganda was effective in its purpose because men who were afraid to enlist saw this and may have believed that this was their only opportunity to have a purpose in the war and be remembered as a hero for generations to come.
