Austin Texas USA, 2002: Treaty Oak and interpretive marker in front of it in a small park near downtown. It is believed to be about 500 years old and the last tree surviving from a grove called Council Oaks where Comanche and Tonkawa Indians gathered before Europeans settled in the area. The tree was vandalized in 1989 and lost about half of its spreading limbs. ©Bob Daemmrich
