The USNS Carson City arrived to the Port of Livorno, Italy on Sunday, to upload general cargo received from Aviano Air Base and bound for Tangier, Africa in support of exercise African Lion 2019. Coordinating port operations was the 839th Transportation Battalion based at Camp Darby, Italy. This port operation reflects the multi-force element of exercise African Lion of a Army unit receiving cargo from the Air Force and loading it about a Military Sealift Command vessel.
