Honorable mention was awarded to William Noonan for a vase of seedling dahlias. John F. Johnston gave an interesting account of the New York state fair at Syracuse, where he went to help the Nassau County Farm Bureau stage its exhibit. Otto Caub, of the Lord & Burnham Co., also gave a short talk. By a vote of the society it was de- cided that all members who have en- listed, or who may enlist, or who have been drafted, or may be drafted into the army will be allowed a free mem- bership for the duration of the war. Tlie exhibit schedule for the next meeting, to be held October 9, is as fol- lows: P. W. Popp's special prize of $5 for the best vase of twenty-five dahlias in variety; six cactus dalilias, one color; six peonies, one color, and six decora- tive dahlias, one color. The annual dahlia show will be held October 9. The schedule of sixty-one classes has been divided into six sec- tions, containing classes for dahlias, outdoor flowers, roses, fruits, vegetables and ])lants. There will be an admis- sion charge of 50 cents, the proceeds going to the American Red Cross. Harry Goodband, Cor. Sec'y. The best Paper Pol for shipping and grow- ing purposes.
