As regards the name which is borne by these Gala-like negroids, it varies according to the country in which they dwell, and also, no doubt, according to the clan to which they belong or from which they are descended. The name employed by the present writer is " Hima," that being the pronunciation most common in Uganda,* Toro, and Ankole; " -hima" being the root, " Bahima" would be the name given to the- * As the Luganrla pronunciation does not admit an "h," the word "Bahima" irk Luganda becomes " Bayima," and the root is " -yima " or " ;.
