A treatise on wood engravings : historical and practical . No. 1. No. 2. The subject represented m the following cut, No. 3, forming thecentre piece at the top in the arrangement of the original page, is Christappearing to his disciples after his resurrection. The figure on the rightof Christ is intended for St. Peter, and that on his left for St. John. Ibelieve that in no wood-cut, ancient or modern, is Christ representedwith so uncomely an aspect and so clumsy a No 3. The subject of No. 4 is Joseph making himself known to his brethren ;from Genesis, chapter XLV. 178 WOOD ENGRAVING
