Smallridge and I were discharged (Small-ridge is the man that was shot in the heart and carried the ball for thirty-sevenyears, until the doctor found it by a post mortem examination). Ater returninghome I was compelled to hide in the woods and under rocks and drag out a lifethat was obliged to force me back into the army.
