Smith w-as a member of the Volunteer FireDepartment, an active, energetic worker, and was the surveyor of the NiagaraFire Insurance Company, and also of the Empire City Fire Insurance Com-pany. Craig was also appointed surveyor of the Citizens Fire InsuranceCompany, and, although he now carries a cane in his daily business walks, hewas a lively and hardworking man in the Fire Department and on the Fire.
