Climate Rush suffragette Tamsin Omond and NoTRAG local activists lead the protest procession to Heathrow against third runway

The horse-drawn Climate Rush one month tour of South West England made its first overnight camp stop at the Greenpeace Airplot site, a former orchard in the middle of the proposed third runway for London Heathrow. From there they made a procession of protest to the airport, led by local residents from NoTRAG, though most were at work. Suffragettes (including a 'token' male and so-called 'eco-starlet' Tamsin Omond) wearing 'Deeds Not Words ' and 'Climate Rush' red sashes carried three banners, Justice, Equity and Truth; Equity traveled on a horse-drawn cart along with a violinist. Their banners read: JUSTICE: Rich Countries must recognise historic responsibility for climate change. EQUITY: Emission quotas must be per capita; the rich have no more right to pollute than the poor. TRUTH: Emission caps must be set in line with the latest climate science. It was a good-natured event and police at the airport stopped traffic for them to proceed a short distance along the perimeter road before they returned to the Airplot camp site. There a couple of the suffragettes still in their long white dresses climbed an apple tree to pick some large cooking apples.
