Thepurpose of the trip was threefold ; to complete thenecessary complement of dogs for the ice-cap march ;to purchase furs and materials for our equipment; andas far as practicable map the shores of the great day was clear and bright, with a mild south-west-erly wind, the temperature about 11° above zero.
