In-dianapolis is a noted centerfor this trade, and prominent among the houses tliusengaged is that of the In-dianapolis CofBn Company,manufacturers of wood andcloth-covered coffins andcaskets, and dealers in nietallic cases, shrouds, lin-ings and funeral supplies,whose office and warerooms are located at ISs Eas Washington streetThis business was founded nmeteen )ears ago by Messrs Da\id andW. H. Hazzard, under the present name. In 1890 the company wasincorporated under the laws of Indiana, with ample capital, and itstrade now extends throughout Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, directors are Carl Von Hake, president; C. Vonnegut, Jr., secre-tary and treasurer; Franklin Vonnegut, Hunger and J. W. The two last named repre-sent the company on theroad. The works are atthe corner of Sixth andWest streets, and comprisea three-story brick building•(5x140 feet, with a two-story addition 40x120 feet,wiih ample storage shedsand lumber yards adjoining,the whole covering twoacres of ground. Themanufacturing depart-ments are fully equippedwith modern appliancesand machinery, operatedby a 50 horse-power steam? forty skilled operatives are employed, who turn out 200 caskets and coffins weeklj Everything in the line of undertakers supplies is also carried in stock, and orders are filled at lowest prices.
