NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (April 21, 2022) Huntington Ingalls Industries Newport News Shipbuilding welders seal the aircraft carrier, Pre-Commissioning Unit John F. Kennedy (CVN79) time capsule in flight deck control. The time capsule will be opened in the future during John F. Kennedy’s refueling and complex overhaul. John F. Kennedy is the second Ford-class aircraft carrier and is under construction at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division.
