Church & detached W tower of St Winwaloe looking SE to Church Cove, Gunwalloe, Cornwall, England, UK. The bell tower built into the cliff is C13th, the church mainly C15th but with some C13th work & a Norman font: the original church was mentioned in the C11th Domesday Book. Three hall design, with central nave & chancel flanked by N & S aisles & a S porch. Dedicated to St Winwaloe (Winnol) a C6th abbot & hermit born in Brittany to Cornish parents. Site said to have been founded by Winwaloe himself who lived here as a hermit, but most likely founded later from one of his Breton monasteries.
