Each pole line carrying threetransmission cables, is also supplied with two protectingcables, one on the pole peak, the other on the end of the. .structural work, Iort Arthur upper pole arm. These protecting cables are grounded everyfifth pole. Unusual precautions are also being observedwithin the sub-station. Transmission is at 22,000 volts, 3-phase, 60 cycles. Cur-rent enters the station through oil switches, automaticallyoperated and supplied with overload relays and passes to ahigh tension busbar. The lightning arresters are of theEuropean type. At the present time only one bank of trans-formers is fed from the high tension bus. This consists of
