This gall wasp of the Cynipidae family cause thesedistinctive galls on wild roses. The Robins Pincushion is a specific gall made by the larvae of the Diplolepis rosae Gall Wasp. The wasp lays the eggs in the developing seed capsille and the plant tissue reacts to the foreing body in a particular way and provides abundant food for the larvae.
