The clearcut was harvested with a conven- tional 'jammer' cable system: slash from the cutting operation was hand piled and burned. Original timber on the north slope consisted of young mature western redcedar (Thuja pliaata Donn), western hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla [Raf.] Sarg.), western white pine (Pinus montiaola Dougl.), grand fir (Abies gvandis [Dougl.] Forbes), and western larch (Larix occidental-is Nutt.). The south slope was stocked with young mature timber of three species--ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa Laws.), Douglas-fir (Psuedotsuga menziesii var. glauaa [Beissn.] Franco), and western white pine.
