Cambodia: Ta Mok (1924-2006), senior Khmer Rouge military commander, with Chinese advisors. By this time Mok had lost a leg to a land mine explosion. Khmer Rouge Leadership: Cambodia: Ta Mok was the nom de guerre of Chhit Choeun (1924 – 21 July 2006). Military Commander of the Democratic Kampuchea (Khmer Rouge) armed forces, he was also known (by his enemies) as 'The Butcher'.
