Italy Abruzzo Teramo province Campli In 1538 the estate of Campli was sold by Charles V to his daughter Margaret of Austria, which brought him a dowry to her second husband Ottavio Farnese, Duke of Parma and Piacenza: the Farnese held the city until 1734, when it was built in the demesne Royal. In 1600 Pope Clement VIII, for instance Ranuccio Farnese, the city rose to a bishopric: the diocese was suppressed by the Concordat of 1818 between Pius VII and Ferdinand I (since Campli is the titular Catholic). On 21 April 1958, at 3:22:39, there was a great earthquake of the 5th degree of the Mercalli Scale, also felt in Montorio al Vomano. An earthquake also occurred in Campli February 20, 1959, equal to the 4th degree of the Mercalli Scale, also felt in neighboring Civitella del Tronto
