Downton Abbey dresses on view at the West Ox Art Gallery in Bampton,Oxforshire : Isobel Crawley's wedding dress worn at Mary's and Matthew's wedding. Penelope Wilton played Mrs Isobel Crawley This is Isobel Crawley’s mother of the groom outfit from Matthew and Mary's wedding. It displays Isobel's practical yet proud nature. “Isobel is a practical woman yet she will not be outdone by the Grantham family. The suit is a slightly earlier cut as she is a woman who has found her own style, and stuck with it. The Chinese trim is original and this sort of embroidery was highly fashionable at the time. The suit is made of crepe with the skirt being slightly hobbled”. Caroline McCall Isobel wears this suit previously in the series but teams it with a different hat for the picnic at Eryholme (Episode 3). She is practical and she would have worn her clothes again and again not concerned that they have been seen before.
