All of the regionsincluded in the valleys of the streams are so situated that flowingwells are obtainable in them at points below 750 and 800 feet in altitude. The county is divisible into two artesian districts east and west ofthe Balcones fault zone, which extends in a northeast-southwest direc-tion from the vicinity of Troy, between Belton and Temple, and westof Salado. Bell County is underlain hy the three artesian reservoirs of theFredericksburg, Glen Rose, and Trinity systems, the last of whichalone underlies the whole county and is the most reliable source ofartesian water.
