Teddy Tail League reverse writing Birthday greetings card circa 1930's

Original card Illustration by Herbert Sydney Foxwell (1890–1943) Foxwell illustrated the cartoon from 1933 onward but died on active service in 1943. Teddy Tail is always seen with a knot in his tail: "Then a dreadful thing happened. We couldn't get the knot undone. I don't think much of Dr. Beetle as a Doctor. He oiled and patted it, but it was no good. My beauty has gone for ever." The popularity of the strip lead to other newspapers creating similar characters such as Rupert the bear in the Daily Express.
