Weather balloon being launched from the German airship LZ-127 Graf Zeppelin during its polar flight in July 1931. During the week-long flight over the Arctic the airship took meteorological measurements, mapped changes in the magnetic field and took panoramic photographs. The LZ-127 Graf Zeppelin was completed in 1928 and retired in 1937 the day after the Hindenburg disaster.
